To Meet the Needs of Unreached & Needy Farmers in Kendrapara
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kendrapara was established in the year January, 1994 under the administrative control of Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar with 100 percent financial support from Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi
The aim of KVK is to reduce the time lag between generation of technology at the research institution and its transfer to the farmer's fields for increasing production & productivity, income from the agriculture and allied sectors on a sustained basis.
It is one of the innovative institutions with the mandate of imparting training to the practicing farmers, farm women, rural youths and extension functionaries in improved technologies in the field of agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries and other allied enterprises.
The effectiveness of the KVK was further enhanced by adding the activities related to on-farm testing and Front-Line Demonstration on major agricultural technologies in order to make the training of farmers location specific, need based and resource-oriented.
The operational area of this Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kendrapara encompasses nine blocks of district namely Kendrapara, Derabish, Pattamundai, Aul, Rajkanika, Rajnagar, Marshaghai, Mohakalapara, Garadpur.
To conduct on-farm trials on farmer’s field to identify location specific technologies for various farming system through assessment and refinement.
To conduct frontline demonstrations on frontier technologies establish the production potentials, generate data and feedback information.
To organize short term and long term vocational trainings for practising farmers, farm women and rural youth.
To organize inservice training for extension functionaries to update their knowledge on recent technologies developments in agriculture.
